SUMMARY

2^nd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "TOGETHER FOR A SAFER REGION"
&
EXHIBITION TECHNOLOGY FOR PUBLIC SAFETY 2009

The 2^nd International Conference Together for a Safer Region, organised by the Regional Police Headquarters in Katowice, the Silesian Voivodeship Office and the Sosnowiec Municipal Office, was one of the most important events during the Exhibition. The conference participants included the following: Zygmunt Łukaszczyk - Silesian Voivode, Stanisław Dąbrowa - Deputy Voivode, Adam Sowiński - representative of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Members of the Polish Parliament, as well as guests from abroad: Richard Olszewski - Vice-President of the European Forum for Urban Safety in Paris, Regis Fohrer - Colonel of the Gendarmerie of the Nord Department, and Francis Garay - Mayor of Les Mureaux.

Some accompanying events were held during the two days of the Exhibition and of the Conference, the most important of which being rescue shows by the Sosnowiec Fire Brigade Unit and the Regional Police Headquarters, Cieszyn rally driver shows, as well as self-defence demonstrations by students of the Katowice Police School.

The second edition of the Conference and of the Technology for Public Safety Exhibition 2009 brought together such participants as local self-government authorities of the Silesian Voivodeship, chiefs of Police, Municipal Guards and Border Guards, representatives of public benefit organisation and research/scientific units, as well as uniformed representatives of various foreign bodies from France, Austria and the Czech Republic.
