The first Rail Transport Fair Silesia Rail ExpoThe first Silesia Rail Expo Fair has come to an end. During the three days of the fair, Expo Silesia was visited by over 2000 guests. Visitors had an opportunity to get to know the state-of-the-art industry technologies, rolling stock, its equipment and IT solutions for railway traffic control. Guests of the fair were companies from Poland, Czech Republic and Germany.
After the official opening of the Silesia Rail Expo Fair participants could visit the exposition and take part in railway conferences.
On 25 and 26 June two industry conferences were held. The first one, entitled "Polish Railway – Development, Future and Cooperation in Euroregions" was under the honorary patronage of Janusz Piechociński, the Deputy Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee and the patronage of the Railway Transport Office.
The other, organized by the Silesian Voivodeship Marshall Office, was devoted to "Sustainable Transport of Southern Poland – Roads, Railway, Airport".
Participants of the conference, including members of the parliament, local self-government members, presidents of railway and carriage companies unanimously emphasized that these were important and valuable meetings, which apart from the integration of the community provided a lot of interesting information such as the investment plans for the development of the railway in Silesia, the network of railway connections, including A1 and A4 motorway and the Katowice Pyrzowice Airport.
The exhibition that was the most prominent of all was the stand of PKP Cargo S.A., the leader in haulage and cargo transport. The company received an award and a medal for the best arrangement of the stand.
During the fair the Competition Jury comprising:
- Prof. dr hab. inż. Marek Sitarz – the Head of the Department of Railway Engineering of Silesian University of Technology,
- Adam Musiał – Director of the Polish Chamber of Producers of Railway Equipment and Services,
- Andrzej Lenkiewicz – Director of the Service Section of the Association of International Road Transport Carriers in Poland
awarded the medal for the innovative product the ticket vending machine LOCOMAT S300i to the company Kolejowe Zakłady Łączności of Bydgoszcz.
